Merry Christmas from Us!

image

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder,
and his name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

Merry Christmas All!

God has blessed us so much over the past year and we have had so many changes in the Davis Household.

Just after Christmas last year, we signed on our first home in Loganville, GA. We love it and have spent the past year renovating, cleaning, painting and decorating it. It has been great to make this house a home!

We have had a few other great milestones this year! Keith finished his Seminary degree from Luther Rice Seminary and walked in May 2012. He was also ordained as a minister as well!

image image

In May, we said goodbye to our church family of 8 years, Journey Church, as Keith accepted a full time Youth pastor position at Meadow Baptist Church in Lawrenceville. We love it there and God is doing great things with Keith’s ministry with the youth.

What else is going on!!!

Keith and I had a wonderful time this summer as we traveled with my mom to Kosova for the yearly Business & Leadership camp there. We had over 35 students and God truly blessed our time there. It was my 1st time back in 4 years and Keith’s 1st time ever!

Since the summer, the months have flown by with work and other activities.

We are so excited to be celebrating our first Christmas in our new home!

King Herod

2012-12-09 17.34.00

BRING THEM TO ME!!!!

Keith was asked to play King Herod in the Children’s Musical at Meadow this year.

Here is a recap of the play:

When King Herod sends Sherlock Watson to find out why the kings from the East did not return to him, we discover, along with Sherlock, that Jesus is the King of Kings, and if we believe in Him, we answer to a higher calling than to any king on earth.

2012-12-09 17.34.08

Keith did an awesome job and everytime he would come the practice the children would chant “herod… herod.. herod” it was  great!

He enjoyed every second of it and had a great time. I will try to post more pictures later!

Introducing. . . .

The newest member of the Davis family. Lula.
I (kaylee) have been slowly but surely hinting at Keith to let me get another cat. He entertained my want for a few months, even taking me to shelters. BUT I knew as well as Keith that we would not be getting a cat until Keith found the one he really wanted. We searched high and low to find just the right one.

We ended up adopting from the Alcovy pet rescue group. An older couple who spend their weekends helping adopt out cats won our heart with their sweet blonde girl kitty.

We then had our next problem... What to name our new addition! We threw around lots of names but landed on lula. Lula means flower in Albanian. (we spelt it in English though).

Sadie and her are working on getting along! Sadie wants to make sure lula knows who the boss of the house is. And the boss isn't Keith or I. Ha ha it is Sadie... At least that is what she thinks.

Anywho we love our new kitty. We have had her about a month now and she is doing great!

Scripture Memory

camera pictures 2011-2012 246

In 2008, my mom and I decided that we would memorize the book of Jude. Yes the book of Jude... it is only one chapter! hehe

As i was moving some items in my side table, I found my 2008 scripture memory flip notebook. It was cool to go back and read the verses that were on my heart in 2008.

Here is one that spoke to me again tonight:

Joshua 1:8

8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

David seeking god's heart

This summer I (kaylee) lead a bible study on the life of king David. It was a great study. We did the teen version and it was great. Beth Moore is awesome at pulling out lessons and teaching tools out of scripture. I really enjoyed this study and my students in the group. Last night was our final night and we had a party at the Kings Table! Enjoy the pictures of our night!

Day 14: Last day

Today marks our official last day (since tomorrow will be our travel day starting at 4 a.m.) here in Kosova. It has been an amazing time here. Relationships have been made, continued, and enhanced. We are saddened to leave but we know that it is not good bye only (as the Mickey mouse club used to say) "see ya real soon"... And that is what we are pushing towards. To see our sweet beautiful Peja in the rear view this morning and now our final hours in Pristina.

This is not the end of our blog. Now that we are in the swing of updates we will continue the best we can. We also have many pictures of funny event, things that made us laugh, and things that you don't see in The states that we will be posting in the upcoming weeks. Thanks again for your willingness to come along with us on our journey through this blog.

You are the ones that keep us updating, so don't forget to comment on our posts. We love each and every one of you. We can't wait to see you when we return and tell of all of our stories and adventures. Feel free to contact us to meet and have coffee (just as the Albanians do) and hear all about them. That is just one of the many things we are adopting to bring back to our culture in America. Thanks again for reading.

Day 12 - Part 2:Great day with lots of friends

We had a great and busy day today visiting with many friends. We ended out day off with the Fejzaj family. We try to meet with them each time we come. Tonight the mother made us laknor. Which is a traditional dish that is like two pieces of corn bread with spinach and onions in the middle. It was super good! We ended the night by going to see the waterfall that is near the village they live in. It was beautiful and great to get a close up look at God's handy work. We had a great time today. I am blessed for god to have put all these great people in my life. We have another busy day tomorrow. I can't wait!

Day 12: Friends, Friends, and more Friends

Over the years Kaylee has made many friends in many places. Today is the day to meet with them and continue that relationship.

Friends are important no matter where you are from. Keeping in touch with them has become faster and easier then ever before. With the information age we have come so far to make this happen. But one thing we must remember is the time we have in a face to face conversation is what makes our relationship grow then by text, email, or phone. Spending that quality time lets them know that they are important to you. Quality time is the word of day 12, days past, and days future.

Day 6: Camp supplies

Today was a great day of preparation for camp starting this Monday (tomorrow)...lots of supplies. At the grocery store they offered to let us use a pallet since we had so many drinks (that was just a small portion of what we were getting)...(pictures to come)

Once done shopping the team went up to camp (up in the mountains) to prepare the places where we will be staying

The mountains of America have nothing to describe the beauty of these mountains. It amazing to be in awe, to really feel so small in such big peaks.

Well this will be our last post and communication until Friday afternoon because of no service on the mountains. Plenty of pictures will be posted when we return. I know there will be plenty of stories to tell from camp. This camp will be historic and has already started being that. The connections, relationships, and knowledge will be great and we are thankful to be a small part of it.

Kaylee and I send our regards. Thanking for your support in all the many ways that you have done not only in our lives but the lives of the Kosovo people. As you are reading his you are supporting our passion for them. It means a lot. Please continue, it makes all the difference. Enjoy ta few pictures from the top.
